Supportive Cancer Counseling

A workshop to educate professionals on how to serve and support people in Wyoming who are living with cancer.

This training is geared towards mental health workers, psychologist, social workers, counselors and other interested stakeholders. 6 CEU hours for the mental health professional will be provided. The goal of this workshop is to provide an educational opportunity for the medical and mental health community, focused on the psychosocial needs of individuals with cancer and caring for the whole person. Training cost $80.00 which will pay for materials and upon completion of the training $20.00 will be refunded. Refunds are offered in full up to 48 hours prior to the event, no-shows will not be refunded.

About the trainer’s credentials : Andrea Berry, MHR, ATR-BC, LPC, NCC

• Masters from University of Oklahoma
• Licensed in Oklahoma and Wyoming
• Nationally Certified Counselor
• Registered & Board Certified Art Therapist
• Active member of the American Psycho-social Oncology Society for 7 years
•Ran psycho-social oncology program for ACOS accredited cancer Center in Oklahoma City
• Worked as cancer counselor for Laramie Oncology and Hematology
• Now in private practice specializing in medical counseling, bereavement counseling and caregiver issues
• Sits on the Steering Committee for Wyoming Comprehensive Cancer Control Consortium (WYCCCC)
• Worked in oncology on a personal or professional since for almost 12 years.
• Presented at ACA conference

You will receive a CEU certificate following the training that has the agenda for the day on the back. The facilitators credentials should meet the criteria for all WY licensing. The facilitators credentials qualify to provide CEU training with the NBCC & ATCB.

On-The-Road Alzheimer’s Disease Workshop

Planned for Sept 25th, 2013 in Casper WY at the Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Center. This workshop is appropriate for practitioners in the areas of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, social work, and other mental health professions and is offered in partnership with the National Association of Social Work-Wyoming Chapter. The workshop includes regional speakers on the Assessment and Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, a Medication Update, and information on End-of-Life Care; followed by a Q&A with an expert panel.

The 2013 Diagnosis Dementia Webinar Series

Offered in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association- Great Plains Chapter every Tuesday starting Sept 10th through October 22nd from 5-6:30 pm. This webinar series is appropriate for practitioners in the areas of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, social work, and other health and mental health professions. Topics include: Diagnosis and imaging, Behavioral management, Alzheimer’s and Developmental Disabilities, Early Onset Alzheimer’s, Care Transitions, Management of Multiple Chronic Conditions, and Competency Assessment presented by National Experts in the field. This series can be viewed at your PC (we will send a link) or at a Host Site in your area.
